Inspired by the incredible success of our October 2025 Camino trek, we invite you to explore Anam Cara Camino 2026 with us!
This October, a group of inspiring Anam Cara supporters will lace up their boots and take on the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain – all in support of bereaved parents across Ireland.
Over seven unforgettable days, our trekkers will walk 100km of the iconic Camino trail, surrounded by breath-taking scenery, meaningful reflection, and a shared sense of purpose. Each step helps fund Anam Cara’s vital peer support services, offered free of charge to families following the death of a child.
We welcome a wide variety of walkers, from experienced trekkers to those making their first journey. However you find us, this journey will be marked by a deep sense of connection, healing, and hope.

Oia to Santiago de Compostela, follows the breathtaking coastline as it curves around the Vigo estuary. Along the way, you’ll stay in the beautiful seaside towns of Baiona and Vigo before rejoining the traditional Camino Portugués in Redondela for the final stretch to Santiago. This section of the coastal Camino is famed for its exceptional seafood, particularly fresh oysters and scallops.
Fundraising is the lifeline that enables Anam Cara to provide free, vital support to bereaved parents and families across Ireland. Every contribution makes a real difference — from funding peer support groups to remembrance events and essential grief resources for newly bereaved families. Camino participants have a fundraising target of €1,500, and while it may seem significant, you will be fully supported with a personalised fundraising page, practical ideas, and ongoing guidance from the Anam Cara team. Together, your efforts ensure that no parent has to walk their grief journey alone.
