We are so grateful to the incredible women who chose to take part in this year’s VHI Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin. To all who ran, jogged, or walked we are so proud of you and thankful beyond words for your support. To all who donated, raising €19,537 to enable us to offer free, vital support to bereaved parents across the island, thank you. In donating, you placed your hope in the strength of our runners, and in the strength of bereaved parents.
We are already looking forward to next year, so keep an eye on this page for news about the 2026 VHI Women’s Mini Marathon!
This October, a group of inspiring Anam Cara supporters will lace up their boots and take on the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain – all in support of bereaved parents across Ireland.
Over five unforgettable days, our trekkers will walk part of the iconic Camino trail, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, meaningful reflection, and a shared sense of purpose. Each step they take will help fund Anam Cara’s vital peer support services, offered free of charge to families following the death of a child.
Whether walking in memory of a loved one or to support someone who has experienced loss, this journey is about connection, healing, and hope.

Together, we walk so no bereaved parent has to journey alone.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible runners – Susan, David, Michelle, James, Eugene, Theresa, Jack, Ian, Sean, Jonathan, Caoimhe, and Martin – who are taking on this iconic challenge in support of bereaved parents across Ireland.
Our ten runners for the Dublin Marathon braved freezing temperatures and wintry rain October 26th to run a combined 262 miles for Anam Cara— phew! While we hope frozen fingers and aching legs have long since healed, we are delighted to report that donations for each person’s campaign are still rolling in, a testament to the strength of telling your story and inspiring your community. Does the idea of running for Anam Cara pull on your heartstrings (as much as your hamstrings)?

Together, every step they take brings comfort and connection to those who need it most.
Each year, Anam Cara hosts two very special events that have become highlights of the festive season – our Christmas Lunches in Dublin and Cork.
These gatherings bring together our valued corporate supporters, friends, and community members for an afternoon of exceptional food, seasonal spirit, and heartfelt connection.
In 2025, we were delighted to welcome friends new and old to our lunch fundraisers in Cork and Dublin. Our deepest gratitude to board member Tony for orchestrating the luncheon in Cork, and to the Mullins family for allowing us to host the event in memory of our dearly departed long-time friend, John Mullins. His presence was sorely missed. Our Saba lunch in Dublin hosted 119 people, with an exclusive tour of the Dublin Airport air traffic control tower, VIP tickets to Bord Gais, and signed golf memorabilia— and more!— on auction. From the bottom of our hearts, our thanks to all our supporters for their enduring commitment to Anam Cara, providing essential services to parents whose children have died— free of cost, as long as they need.
By getting involved, you are directly helping Anam Cara continue to offer its free, nationwide peer support services, providing comfort and connection when it’s needed most.
Whether you join us in person or support from afar, your generosity will make a lasting difference.
